Reflection for the Day
"What if..." How often we hear these words . How often, in fact, we tend to say them ourselves.
"What if I get sick and can't work?"

 "Heart attack ,The silent killer!!!

Even though about 80 million U.S.
adults have been diagnosed with this
disease, most don’t realize they have “the
silent killer” – high blood pressure.
The leading cause of heart disease and
 stroke often goes unnoticed because
high
blood pressure often shows no signs or
symptoms. So, you may not be aware
your arteries, heart, and other organs are
being damaged creating conditions for
heart attack or failure.
One of the best ways to care for your heart is to regularly have your blood pressure levels checked. You can be screened at your doctor’s office, pharmacy, or at home with a blood pressure monitor. Blood pressure can fluctuate due to posture, exercise, sleep, or even stress. However, the normal blood pressure range for adults over the age of 20 is below 120/80 mm hg (below 120 systolic and below 80 diastolic.) If your blood pressure is higher than normal, work with your healthcare professional to determine the best treatment and management goals for you. Other medical conditions and lifestyle choices that put people at higher risk include high cholesterol, diabetes, overweight and obesity, poor diet, physical inactivity, smoking, and excessive alcohol use. In striving to support and educate our community, Abilene Regional Medical Center has developed the HEARTaware center, an online assessment tool combined with in-house physician resources to provide valuable information about prevention and management. To participate in the free HEARTaware assessment, click here. The brief online tool will give you a personalized risk assessment report that will help you identify medical or lifestyle factors that may lead to the development of heart disease. If it’s determined you might be at risk for heart disease, you can schedule a free cholesterol and blood pressure screening.

"What if I lose my job?"
"What if my car breaks down?"

"What if my child gets hooked on drugs?"

What if -- anything our desperate imaginings can project.

Only two small words, yet how heavy-laden they are with dread, fear and anxiety.

The answer to "What if . . ." is, plainly and simply,

"Don't project." We can only live with our problems as they arise, living one day at a time.

Am I keeping my thoughts positive?

Today I Pray

May I grow spiritually, without being held back by anxieties. May projected fears not hobble my pursuits or keep me from making the most of today. May I turn out fear by faith. If I will only make a place for God within me, God will remove my fears.

Today I Will Remember

I can only borrow trouble at high interest rates.
