In the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum you can find this version of the famous poem written by Pastor Martin Niemöller about the cowardice of the intellectuals of his time in normalizing the Nazi Party’s rise in Germany in the 1930s.
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
There have been numerous variations of this poem and last week Raphael Bob-Waksberg wrote this on his Twitter account.
